Ways and Means of Exploring Dostoevsky’s Creative Legacy in the 21st Century
The article presents the main problems faced by a contemporary researcher of F. M. Dostoevsky’s work in Russia and other countries, in particular, the lack of opportunity to work with the writer’s manuscripts, the inaccuracy of publishing his works in the outdated “only word” format of the Complete Works, the problems of translating archaic grammar and punctuation of the 19th century into modern Russian. There is a significant number of inaccuracies in the dating of the writer’s notes in his workbooks, the lack of access to Dostoevsky’s ideographic notes and drawings, etc. Solutions to these problems are proposed in the form of the creation of a scientific portal The United Digital Archive of F. M. Dostoevsky, where all the manuscripts of the writer are collected as digital copies, the development of a spectrophotometric method for dating manuscripts, and an electronic complete diplomatic transcription, which provides easy reading of the writer’s draft manuscripts in the entirety of all the information stored in them.
