About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Dostoevsky Studies is the journal of the International Dostoevsky Society (IDS).

It is an annual journal, totally focused on the work, life and heritage of Fyodor Dostoevsky.

Languages of publication are Russian and English. At the discretion of the editorial staff, contributions in other languages may also be accepted.

Peer Review Process

Dostoevsky Studies is a peer-reviewed journal featuring new scholarship on any aspect of the life or work of Fyodor Dostoevsky. 

Articles should generally consist of 6,000-9,000 words (including footnotes, work cited, image captions and tables). In exceptional cases (where the format or the type of material dictates), longer articles will be accepted. Book reviews are generally no more than 2,000 words in length.

All manuscripts should be double-spaced and typed with Times New Roman font size 12. 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Journal History

Dostoevsky Studies, founded in 1980, is the journal of the International Dostoevsky Society (IDS).

The journal's History has to be divided in three main periods:

- 1980-1988 The first series (Voll. 1-9), ed. by prof. Rudolf Neuhäuser and printed in Klagenfurt (Austria)

- 1993-2018 The New Series. (Voll. 1-22). The first 2 volumes, divided in three different issues and ed. by prof. Charles Schlacks jr., were published in: Salt Lake City, Utah (1993, Vol. 1, n.1 & 2); Los Angeles, CA & Idyllwild, CA (Vol. 2-6, 1994-1998); and Dresden, Germany, Managing Editor prof. Horst-Jürgen Gerigk (Vol. 2, n.1 & 2, 1998). Starting from the 3th volume the journal was regularly published and printed in Tübingen (Germany) by Narr Francke Attempto Verlag

- 2020- The New Series starting by Vol. 23 becomes an Open Access Digital Journal hosted by the Department of Foreign Languages of The University of Verona (Italy)
