Czech scholar and writer František Kautman (1927-2016) had a singular and important role in the history of the IDS from its beginning. Due to political situation in Czechoslovakia after 1968, this role was forgotten. With an unpublished letter of Dmitry Grishin to Kautman in Appendix.
